Our first week has been all about building the foundation of working on this project, such as setting up systems, establishing direction, and beginning to bring When We Come Together to life through design and collaboration.

A major highlight of this week was the development of our visual identity. Our team’s visual designer, Lisa, worked to shape the design system that defines the project’s tone calm, reflective, and radiant. This included setting our colour palette inspired by Stratford’s four seasons and the Thirteen Grandmother Moons, as well as choosing typefaces that balance accessibility and warmth. Inter was selected for clarity and readability, while Cormorant Garamond adds a poetic, human touch that mirrors the project’s emotional depth.

Another exciting milestone was the creation of our official poster, which was also designed by Lisa. The poster visually captures what When We Come Together represents, the merging of light, connection, and reconciliation. Its soft gradients and layered tones reflect the cycles of reflection, renewal, reconciliation, and gratitude that guide the installation’s message.

Alongside this, our team made strong strides in other areas, establishing our meeting schedules and setting clear tasks for the team, outlining our marketing and presentation plans, and learning the software and starting early development on the interactive prototype of the installation.

It’s been an inspiring first week filled with creativity and collaboration. The groundwork has been set, and with each new piece, our project is slowly starting to take form.

Stay tuned for our progress!
