Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
When We Come Together is an interactive light installation that explores reconciliation as an ongoing and cyclical process shaped by movement, presence, and collective participation. Inspired by the Indigenous teachings of the Thirteen Grandmother Moons, the project focuses on four seasonal moons: Sugar, Strawberry, Falling Leaves, and Spirit, to guide its themes of renewal, connection, gratitude, and reflection. Through shifting seasonal colours and flowing particle motions, the installation immerses visitors in a visual environment that showcases each moon’s season and teachings. Using full-body motion tracking, participants can change the season and the movement of the particles, highlighting how individual actions can shape shared spaces. In alignment with the Lights on Stratford theme of "Radiance", the installation becomes more vibrant when people move together, celebrating the light that emerges from connection and collective engagement.
